I changed the IP addresses on 3 XP units to accomadate new router IP range. 2 of them are fine the third reverts to its old Ip on reboot, even after using the 'repair connection' feature. Any ideas?
Thanks
Wutt
When I change the IP (and an imbedded IP in an application .ini file) It communicates fine with the network. When I reboot both IP addresses are changed back to what they were before. The old IP is out of the routers range so no network communication happens. Thanks! Keith
You know what you're dealing with!
gates foundation is active on the win2k's but I'm not sure about the xp units.
But why are the other two xp's and all three win2k units Ok with the changes?
Thanks
Wutt
Further info
I tried putting a new desktop folder on the desktop and when I rebooted it was gone. I feel that any changes being done are not permanently saved and everything reverts back on reboot. Is there a setting on this I can change to allow for changes?
ps. i did an ipconfig/all and it showed the new ip until i rebooted!
thanks
keith
