Good Morning all:
I've been messing around with a computer lately that's been having some issues with the IP. It keeps an APIPA ip of 169.254.x.y, and i cant seem to get it to go away. I've tried Ipconfig and it gets errors, i've tried disabling the connection but it's says it's busy and i've also noticed that on Task Manager there is an instance of svchost.exe that runs and when i close it it give the 60 seconds till shutdown warning. I use the Shutdown /a command to stope it, but it restarts and i cant figure out what else to do.
I've scanned it several times, but since i'm unable to get the latest updates i can't be sure if it's got everything. Also, when i set IE options to Automatically Obtain the IP address and click "ok" it doesnt take, and when i check again it's unchecked. I'm losing my mind here and am at the moment too irritated to even fool with it. If this extra info helps, I've got system restore OFF, and have 2 NIC's neither of which will connect or keep the settings I've set them to. Even though i disable one, the other still wont connect, also they will not repair, and in the CMD prompt when i try to Release/Renew the IP address it gives me an error. It may be simple and i'm overlooking it, but please help!
Thanks in advance,
Sean.
