I was told by my Vendor (no longer around), that the limit on the number of IP sets that I could attach to my BCM 200 (3.6) was somewhere in the hundred range.

Other than having enough IP Telephony Licenses, What determines the limit ?

Thanks.

The system will hold a max. of 90 with extra MS-PEC. Also you need to have your BCM setup for 3/5 split.

Pardon my ignorance...

MS-PEC ?
3/5 Split ? Where do I check/change that setting ?

Found this via Google:

The resource calculator says that the BCM 200 can do 74 IP sets with a 3/5 split and 2 PEC-3's, with 16 mail ports enabled.

But, I thought the maximum was 60 also.

DS30 split is checked under Diagnostics, MSC, Configuration, DS30 Split. It's probably 2/6, as that's default.

I've never installed a BCM 200 that has IP sets with a 2/6 split, since it's impossible to use all 6 loops anyway.

Thanks for the education, it is indeed set at 2/6.

What do the numbers represent ?

It sounds like depending on the choices, more or less resources would be allocated one way or the other.

What do you think it should be for a system with IP sets ?

and

What are the potential repercussions of making the change ?

Thanks in advance.

It determines the number of DS30 loops (internal resources) that are available for IP/applications and TDM (sets, trunks, etc).

2/6 split means 2 loops for IP, 6 for TDM. 3/5 means 3 loops for IP, 5 for TDM.

I always try to use 3/5 when running more than 20 IP sets, unless the sales guy has let the system be sold maxed out and there isn't any choice.

No real repurcussions, unless you have stuff built on bus 7. If so, you'll need to move it off bus 7 onto another bus. Also, you can go from 2/6 to 3/5 without losing data, but if you go from 3/5 to 2/6 you'll be reprogramming.

The problem with this is on the 200 the limit is not the loops but the DSP resources. You can only have 2 MSPECS on a BCM 200 if you run this at a lower codec you will find you will have all sorts of resource issues. If you want there is a resource calculator on my website under the downloads section.

Something else:
From the list above one was:
Call pilot (32 ports up to 1000 mailboxes 250 hrs storage)

I believe there should be a refined statement that there are only 16 ports(channels in old lingo)available for Voicemail/ACD. The remainder are IVR related combinations.

You can use all 32 ports for voicemail if you wish you can reserve others in different applications but you can use all 32 ports for voice mail I have a call center and voicemail using them all at the moment. On the earlier systems 2.5 etc you could only have a max of 16 regardless.Certainly this is the case in the UK.

Thanks Marshall... This was my final stop to find the information out. I was hoping someone would prove me wrong. Sorry for the incorrect information. Though I do want to see it!!!! I have just such a situation...ACD and Voicemail.
