IP Phones lockingup - Visual Voice

I have an avaya Ip500 running 4.1 software. All the IP 5621 are locking up when the user tries to use the Visual Voice Mail function. I upgraded the customer to 5.0.28 and the issue still remains. They do have some digital 5420 phones but those are not affected. Any idea's. Should we attempt further upgrades or is this a network issue?

did the IP handsets firmware also upgrade with the r5 upgrade?

I know VV can sometimes take a little while to spool up via an IP handset, my 9620 at home can appear to lock up, but normally recovers after a second or two.

It does not look like they did. is there a way i can force the IP sets to upgrade?
 
By using the right 46upgrade.scr and the belonging files for the phones.

Put those on the fileserver and reboot the phones.
I would try it with one phone first :)

Are the 5621's on the same LAN or connected by VPN?
