Hello
We have
Site A, Server Edition Primary, rls 11
Site B, Server Edition Secondary, rls 11
Site C, about 20 J129 phones registered in Primary

We want to check the failover feature, that if Primary goes down, J129 phones register in Secondary.
So, after hours we put a Firewall rule that blocks access from the phones in Site C to the primary server in Site A.
I wait 10 minutes, and nothing happens.
I check that the Secondary can reach the phones at all times, but no phone registration. Check with Monitor the Secondary, but no signal of the IP Phones.
Any suggestion? Where to check?
I'm in doubt if J129 admit this feature.
Thanks in advance.

If the primary server is active and online then the phones won’t register to the secondary.
The primary needs to be offline so as the secondary can’t see it.
The phones then trigger the failover to the secondary after 3 minutes
Have you set Enabled the resilience on the primary

You can see this happening on SSA ALARMS - message to tell you what phone triggered the failover
also use system monitor Small community network and see the 2 systems active and fallback backup

Thanks Snowman, you are right, Secondary was able to contact the Primary all the time.
Is there a way to shutdown the Primary?
I can shutdown an expansion unit (500v2) with System Status, but couldn't find a way to shutdown one Server Edition.

If its a physical server, easiest is to just pull the network cable out. Otherwise, shutdown for Linux-based IP Office servers is in the web control menus (port 7071).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

You can use the web manager port 7071 and look at the services ..
IP Office is the phone system and you can shut this down by selecting STOP

STOP the phone system and the Phones will drop and reregister to the secondary,
Open SSA ON SECONDARY select extensions and you should see the phones appearing in the field showing Guest

Also the phone will also tell you it’s registering R

Good luck

I finally got the test working fine!!
I was missing to complete the sip domain and sip fqdn (as the Resiliency manual states).
After that everything went perfect, got ip phones frome the primary registered in the secondary and phones from the secondary registered in the primary. Also after 10 minutes the failback worked fine. Thanks snowman and sizbut for your help.
