Hello,

I have always been told that any IP phones off the SV8100/SV8300 system must use a public IP address in order for the IP phone to be able to send and receive calls. We are going to add another 65 IP phones soon and our network guys are telling me that the phones should be able to work with a private IP address. We have lots of working IP phones with public IP addresses and we have them on a separate vlan.

CAN we use private IP addresses? If so, how do I get the phone to send and receive phone calls instead of just being able to dial other extensions?

I appreciate your help!

Cindy

Private addresses require port forwarding to be done in the system side router. Private addresses require a VPN.

Thank you Bevedere. Appreciate it. Phone is now working!
