Question..

A partner company of ours is talking about using an UP phone between our businesses to facilitate calls back and forth. Basically, so someone at their end could call us without long-distance charges, etc..

Does anyone know if there are any IP phones that can work, in any fashion with a Merlin Magix system?

The phone would go on "Scott's desk" we would be looking for the ability to transfer a call right from that phone, back into our phone system. Even innovative ways of doing this would be most welcome :)

Multitech 1 port VoIP gateway connected to 1 analog trunk port set to answer with DISA will do the trick nicely. It would allow any user on your Magix (1 at a time of course) to communicate over the VoIP link with their existing phone. Of course you'll need a VoIP endpoint at the other end, whether that be another gateway hung on another non-VoIP PBX or a VoiP capable PBX (like IP Office with a 3rd party IP endpoints licence).

Using UDP programming, you can make it almost transparent to your users.

Hmm, sounds like that might be a winner. I will look into that. With this being a Gateway - sounds like the VoIP will work both ways, if I read that right.

Thanks a bunch, I will look into that.
