I have searched and not seen any answers. We have a tech installing a CS1000E 5.0 with HMS voicemail for the guests. The trouble he is having is that when calling the HMS from the IP set, the HMS system will not recognize any digits dialed. If called from an analog set or digital set it works fine. If he calls from a IP phone to an analog set you can hear the dtmf on the analog phone. 2 separate media gateways and both are spread between the media gateways. If you call an external voicemail system from the IP set DTMF works fine. This to me rules out DSP recources as the problem. Firmware and patches are up to date. I have found nothing on the Nortel site for this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Even smart a&^ comments. Everyone needs a laugh.

I'm assuming the HMS(400?) is hooked up via M2616 TNs.
See if you plug in a 2616 into one of the ports going to the HMS and call using an IP phone do you get DTMF?

If you get DTMF then it could point to the Dialogic Board on the HMS or a config issue on HMS.

Exactly what I was thinking. Yes it is a 400. We have a conf call in 5 min and we will discuss all issues.

Ok now that we had all the players on the same call we get the real story. When calling from an IP phone to analog or digital set you can hear the first tone pushed and then silence no matter how many buttons were pushed.

See if DTMF TONE DETECTION is on or off on the sig server for the phones codec and try the opposite....

We located the trouble

LD 97 under the TYPE=XCTP gate opener prompt there is a prompt for DTMF and it was set to 4. We changed this to 14 which is North America and then had to INI the switch.

DTMF 0-(14)-255

Dual Tone Multifrequency (Tone table index of the first DTMF digit to be used). Use 14 for North American tones.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
