One of our Optipoint 420 phones was getting an incorrect IP address (should have been getting a DHCP assigned address on the voice vlan) because someone plugged it into the wrong port on the data switch. I plugged it into a voice vlan port and verified that the phone config and settings were correct. How do I get the phone to obtain a new IP address or do I have to reset the gateway card that it is connected to to force it to get an address? It just says 'initializing'....so I can't get to it via
TIA

It does not get an IP address from the HiPath, it gets it from the DHCP server on your LAN.
If it still wont work then do a restart, failing that do a factory default

I have found in my environment (No QoS yet) that if a phone is always plugged into the same port on the switch it will tend to be assigned the same IP. On some switches I believe there is a MAC address table and the IP is assigned to a MAC address until the lease expires. You may have to plug the phone into a different physical switch to get a different IP address. Just plugging it into a different port on the same LAN switch may not make a difference.

If you have multiple switches in the same rack try to plug the phone into a different one.
