IP Phone models on a WAN

I have some general questions about what peoples experience with IP phones across a WAN is like. Currently the IP Office 406 I have has all digital expansion modules with digital phones but I was asked about putting IP phones at some of our remote facilities. We already have VPN tunnels up between all of our locations so I don't need or want the phone to try and handle that.

I am slightly concerned about voice quality. So are there some models of phones that handle that better for WAN locations, or do all the phones handle voice the same so there wouldn't be any difference in quality? Each site would only have 1-5 phones so we don't want entire phones systems at every location, plus we they would have a landline phone someplace in the building in case their internet went down.

I will probably be buying a phone or two to test myself, but really want to know if there are some phones that are better at that than others.

Thannk you,

@aspooner The voice quality of the phones at the remote locations is all dependent on how the good the WAN links are between each site. We have deployed both 16XX and 96XX in this same scenario and both work as well as each other.
