Hello,

I have installed many bcm's but not to many had IP phones
They mostly had digital or analog I am fairly new with proper IP set installation. I have a cust. who has an IP 2004 set which he has working at his home office everything works fine but the cust. keeps complaining about the phone resetting itself from time to time no kind of consistancy to it just seems like a daily thing the phone
will say locating sever... then boot up and it also makes a beep/audible type noise( nortel tone) and he is also complaining bout that, the IP of the ext. is a public IP address the same public IP as the BCM. Any way to correct this prob. or heard of

if you meant that the S1 address in the phone is the BCM's address that's fine - check the stability of the network between the BCM and the IP Phone

The s1 port is set to 7000 but what I meant was the public ip of the BCM is the same ip as the ip 2004, is this not correct? or does something need to be adjusted to stop from resetting so often. Please advise cause this guy is driving me nuts about the phone making that beep audible when booting back up.

The ip phone's address cannot be the same as the bcm's. You need to give it a different address on the same subnet.

the only way I could ever get the phone to load was to match to two ip's. The BCM is assigned the public ip address for ex. 67.62.246.123 and the ip programmed on the phone is 67.62.246.123 / dhcp 1 - partial - s1 7000 etc.
I have tried to assign local dynamic ip different from BCM and the phone will never come up ( locating server ) unless I need to chg something to make work.I know the BCM dhcp is set to off cause the LAN is on if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance...

bluemr2 is correct - each device must have a unique address

S1 - server1 address that should be the published IP of the BCM
and then port is 7000

How is the phone getting connected to the BCM - is there a VPN setup?

If this is a 2004 at home you need a Contivity 221 VPN router, a routable IP address from the ISP and IPSEC on the BCM.

This is how it is set up under ip subsystem that is where i have the public ip / subnet / gateway / and the pri. / sec. dns. from isp. The ip 2004 has the same ip as bcm. How do I get the phone to work w/ different ip cause I never was able to before, it would only work using the same ip as BCM and no there is no vpn at home. Is hooking up the 221 vpn router difficult?
