IP Phone freezes and goes busy

Hi Guys

I have a bcm50 rel6 with 12 ip phones.
IP 1140 teles.
Every few weeks 1 phone 225 freezes.
The phone display shows time and date ok
You cant get Dial tone and when you ring it, it shows busy tone.

I have all the latest patches installed.

The only way to release the phone is to re register it or reboot system.

I have changed the phone 3 times
Changed lan Port
Changed lan cable
Changed data switch port
swapped bcm ports by reregistering 2 phones
Firmware upgraded.

its only this one extn that has the problem.

Any one else have this problem



 
or user had dialed F85

When it happend try dial F#85...

Thanks for the reply but its not as simple as a DND

The phone freezes , cant get dialtone.
Buttons dont work.

 
Sounds like a tough one.

Was it swapped with a new switch port unused or known working one somebody else was on?.
Same IP address always?
Anything unusual at the desk near the phone?
Swapped patch cords too, both ends?

If PoE try adding a local PS

Have IT sniff for packet loss.

Just thoughts, outta ammo.

Yes to all those .
Using local power supplys

Packet sniffer would be good but i am not that Technical with those sort of tools and would not know how to use them.

Strange issue as the phone works for about 4 weeks then freeze.
Only this one extn.

I suppose i could try to renumber it as a different extn Number and see what happens.
 
Check your network wiring. Test the Cat 5 cable to make sure it's not bad.
 
You didn't specify how the ip addresses are assigned to the sets but is it possibly someone who doesn't frequent the office often who's PC is being assigned the same ip address as that set?
 
The ip address are assigned by DHCP.

But thats an idea the next time it freezes i will log in to see the ip address,

All wiring has been checked and lan ports swapped
