IP Phone Defaulting to Old Extension

We have two subnets with all digital handsets on one system. Recently we needed to make use of an IP handset that we used to use more often. I am new to Avaya's hardware and cannot determine why the the two IP handsets we have both default to the same extension. The extension does not exist in the IP Office software and is added upon the the connection of the handset. No matter what I do in the IP office manager the phone always defaults to the extension as well. What could be happening here? Does the extension get set on the handset? If so could someone point me in the right direction? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Do as CarGoSki says, also you need to CLEAR/RESET (that's a clue) the handset, search this forum for more info :)
