hi
i've just plugged an 1140e into a new customer i just "assumed"
it came up with lines 1-4 assigned
I only wanted one assigned so i deleted lines 2-4
and then lines 5-7 popped up on the set
but when you look on the "line assignment page" it only shows line 1

funny thing is, if you go to "active physical lines" there are no "lines 5-7"
just lines 1-4

(there WAS an expansion chassis on this system, that isn't there anymore)
could that be the issue?

hope i explained this correctly
i can upload a screen capture if that helps?\\thx in advance

Assuming BCM50...Did you mean to say lines 061-064?

Check Resources Main GATI4 and see what line numbers are on ports 301-304 and that the expansion is disabled further down.

on the resources main it states on the GATI4 along that line it says "low 061, high 064"
when i look under the trunk port details it says port 301 n/a and 302-304 062-064 consecutively

and under expansion 1 and 2 it says "none" and no option to disable

this is only doign it on the 1140e sets not the M-series

btw the only place it says "line 5, line 6 and line 7" is on the phone display, i don't see it anywhere on the BCM

Did you mean to say lines 061-064?"
Still need to know...
You need to assign lines 061, 062, 063, 064 and not 1 2, 3, 4, 5 etc which are reserved for VoIP....cant say I have ever tried programming voip lines to digital sets and noticed any differences on both.

Try programming from a set and see if that helps for some strange reason.

I meant Voip lines to Voip sets not digital but cannot be done anyway so you must have meant 061-064.

I would try rebooting the BCM...still guessing it's a BCM50 or is it?

hi CC
yes its a bcm50
i was on site yesterday trying to document and clean up their network a bit
here is a screen shot of the IP phone
house1140e_zevhya.jpg

and a couple of shots of the bcm50
bcm50house_ydjsrx.png

bcm50house1_agpzie.png

i ran out of time yesterday but i was thinking of rebooting bcm

rr

ps i went through all the "lines" and i saw no reference at all to line 5 line 6 line 7 as it appears on the lcd of the phone

here is the display
as mentioned if I go into the "all Lines" section of the bcm it does not make reference to any of this
IMG_0863_br03ib.jpg

if it was a phone like on of the t7316's I wouldn't be too concerned, but I'd like to have a few of these buttons for fast access to features

it DID have an expansion mbm on it, which they don't need as I'm doing ip phones

As i see the lines have names, you can assing a visual name or reference to a line like a set however the gived name is not necessary releated to the line number, in that case i can see ''Line 06'' is associated to ''Line066'' By Default Line name have 3 didigt numbers like ''Line001'' but the one you show have a space so someone customized it.

Check in your lines list if the line 'Line066' is associated to the name Line 6

I also never work with the Avaya Element manager since we discovered it has many bug of data sync with the bcm like for Advanced Paging Productivity in a other topic, i always use the lastest nortel element manager, maybe you can try to configure with the nortel element manager if other lines will pop up or not.

I use this one free to download that i found on google

I went through my line list twice yesterday, and unless I was was really zoned out, I did not see any line 066
thats why I'm confused?
I see
line 061
line 062
line 063
line 064
but thats all I see, it stops there
I'll get back on the system and look tonight with a cleaner set of eyes.
thanks
rr

Ok so they are lines 061-64 and not 1 to 4....you need to speak actual line numbers and not names.

What Release is it?
Does it have all the patches?

I would try to copy a digital set to an IP set.

Or put the expansion and module back and enable it, program all lines on it, then de-program 066-069 form every single DN on the system then disable and remove.

Kinda looks like a glitch in the system.

Do you have a backup?

I understand the correlation between say line 061 and line 1
i understand the Line 1 is something my predecessor named
I usually assign the last 4 digits of the line number to a line name so if theres local loop issue i know which carrier loop it is

what i fail to understand is there is no where in the BCM programming
not even in the "all Lines" header tab in the bcm does it refer to the 4 lines in question
line 065
line 066
line 067
line 068

AND
when you look at the button programming on the phone, it only shows i have line 061 assigned
none of what feature *0 button inquiry says

i suspect it is an after effect of removing the expansion chassis that had the Nortel BCM 8x16 COMBO Media Bay Module
(NT5B42AAACE5) installed.

i quickly checked patch release (its a release 6.0 system) but it was late and my memory seems to recall there didn't seem to be any installed
i have one more day of my network migration to do so when i'm there i'll back up the system and check for patches
it'd be a pain in the butt if removing an installed expansion chassis did this, like customers never removed or swapped out mbm's, ever?

i managed to remote into the site last night
all_lines_bzel7k.png

notice theres no reference to lines 065-068
patch_update_detail_fsdgdx.png

i did not reboot the bcm, i'd rather be there when i do that
i did not try to do a set copy from a digital set to an ip set, i'll do that and a reboot next time i'm there
thanks
rr

Do you have the latest patches on file? that one is way out of date.

You need these:
BCM050.R600.SU.System-022.201412-1
BCM050.R600.SU.Desktop-005.201406-1
BCM050.R600.UTPS-138-1
BCM050.R600.SAMBA-136-1.zip

You can install the USB and schedule them for overnight but leave some time between each patch like an hour.

When you reboot try it from the admin/reset tab.

I schedule myself to site the following morning just in case I do schedule a reboot or patches, wake up, remote in and check all went well (Alarms and Software History).

Your BCM system is way out of date and release 022 is needed.

Lines 065 onwards tended to be found on add on modules as the default ones were

Lines 001 to 012 = VOIP trunks
Lines 061 to 064 = Analogue or BRI trunks

I believe i have a folder here of all the current patches
in my highly advanced file organizational database
i have about a day of VLAN work to do on site so i'll schedule to have patches run the night before
thanks CC

Thanks Firebird
nice to see my predecessor kept things current
I suppose thats why i'm in there now
This customer started out as a data customer who once i got involved asked me to take over the BCM
or recommend a replacement
i'd rather try and maintain the bcm that bring in a new complication to their environment
rr

managed to do a set copy today like curlycord suggested
it got those pesky phantom lines 065-068 gone for me
problem solved

weird "quirk" if you ask me, but i've heard of stranger things

now to schedule getting this thing up to current patch levels

thanks for the idea's
