We are replacing an OLD Lucent switch with BCM 400. Our location is already wired at many stations for many Lucent phones (2 pair). Is there ANY functional advantage in going with ALL IP phones with the BCM as opposed to using a mixture of digital phones at the existing locations (with the appropriate BCM module) and IP phones at the new stations?

Thanks in advance for all opinions !!!

IP phones make your MAC work easier - if a user moves, take the phone and plug it in at the new location. But, you need to have the network infrastructure to support it, such as QOS enabled switches, hopefully POE switches, etc.

If you're already cabled with voice cable, I'd say stick with digital. You can put out IP sets for people who need/want to have a "fancier looking" phone
