I just took a test on TCP/IP protocols and during a study group of mine the question about dividing the offset by eight to get the real offset came up. Anyhow, we weren't sure if the teacher had said, if a number is smaller than 8192, you do not have to divide by 8. When test time came, the number in the offset was 2500. I didn't divide by 8 and wound up getting the question wrong. My question is, the number inside the checksum, is it always divided by 8?
