Not sure if I should have continued my previous thread but I started a new one.

I've connected my IP office 403 to My Definity G3si R8 via the T1 interface of the IP Office to a T1 card in the Definity. I am able to reach stations attached to the Definity. My plan is to get dial tone from the Definity so that the stations attached to the IP Office can dial out. Currently I am unable to make phone calls from the IP Office. Can someone give me guidance on the steps necessary to gain access to a Definity trunk from the IP Office? Thank you.

Send a 9 in front of the number you want to dial to the definity. Assuming no local trunks on IPO and using definity for all PSTN access, simply modify your default dialout shortcodes to insert the extra 9 (similiar to configuring for centrex operation):

SC: [9]N;
TN: 9N
LG: <T1 to definity>
F: Dial

I already had it configured that way. I do not have any local trunks on the IP Office all trunks are configured on the Definity. I can dial stations on the Definity but cannot place an outbound call from the IP Office.

You also need to make sure the COR on your pt-to-pt trunk in the Definity (the one that goes to and from your IP Office also doubles as the "thing" that makes the phone call on the Definity) has an FRL that is able to make calls. Most of the time when you are using another switch to make your outbound calls, you make the FRL on the COR of the trunk group (on the switch making the calls) a 6 or 7. You then have to depend on the ARS (or shortcodes in the case of the IP Office) on the remote system to make sure that only people who are suppose to be making calls are actually making them. In other words, the ARS in the Definity no longer has the secondary purpose of allowing or denying calls, it merely tells them where to go.

Also make sure you have trunk to trunk transfer enabled on the Definity under "disp sys feat" it's called "Trunk to Trunk Transfer" and would need to be enabled to "all".

Ok. I am now at a point where I can place outbound calls from a station on the IP Office via Definity trunk. I do have an issue where I have to press 9 twice to get the outbound dial tone. My ultimate goal is have the stations on the IP office act the same as those on the Definity. Stations on the Definity press 9 once to dial an outbound call. Am I able to accomplish this with the IP Office? Please advise.

I believe if you change the short code so that it dials 9,N (where N will be you dialing the 9 and number) you could acomplish this. Alternatively, remove the shortcode 9 "secondary dialtone" should acomplish the same.
