I've been reading through various Avaya literature, trying to get more familiar with the IP Office system, and I'm slightly confused by some potentially inconsistent naming of various systems:

1) The most recent maintenance release notes say that the updates (no, I'm not installing them) are "for use with the IP Office IP 403, IP 406, IP 406V2, IP 412 and the IP
Office Small Office Edition."

2) The document CD I have (3.0), in the product description section, has subsections for "Small Office Edition Platform", and "Platform Overview", which then lists 403/406/412. This structure implies these are subsets of Small Office Edition.

3) The release notes specifically say the update "is not supported on the IP401 Compact Office". This isn't the Small Office edition, is it?

4) Finally, for our company's system, the hardware is specifically Small Office Edition 4T+4A+8DS (3 VoIP), based on pictures and feature demonstration. In Manager, the control unit reports being "IP 401 NG", but I don't see this 401 NG terminology used anywhere else.

So, I guess to clear up my confusion, could anyone verify that 1) Small Office Edition = IP 401 NG, with 403, 406, and 412 being non-small office edition systems, and 2) My system is eligable for the latest firmware upgrades.

Thanks in advance,

You are correct, the Small Office Edition (or SOE) is a IP 401 and the 403, 406, and 412 are not small office editions.

And yes you can upgrade the SOE to the latest release 3.1.65
