I am currently installing an IP Office Small Office Edition. When I phone any of the 3 analogue lines, I get quite a long delay before any of the POTs ring and then after I hang up the call, the extensions continue to ring for about the same delay (3-4 rings)

For example, I call one of the phone numbers. As soon as I get the ringing tone in my ear on my mobile, the line light on the IP Office starts flashing. However, it takes another 3-4 rings before an extension that I have routed the call to starts ringing.

This happens if the incoming call route is set to a single extension or a hunt group containing several extensions.

I also noticed that if I have the Call Status or Phone Menager software running, the call doesn't appear on the software screens until the extension starts to ring and the call remains displayed for the same 3-4 ring delay as the extension rings for after the call has hung up.

I would be grateful for any suggestions what is causing this delay.

Cheers

Do you have Caller ID on your lines? If so the system will wait for the caller ID signal before it attempts to ring a telephone. If you do not, make sure the setting under trunk type on each trunk is set to Loop Start, and not Loop Start CLID.

Also check your locale setting under the system tab. Make sure it matches your location, then check under each trunk under Ring Off Maximum. That sets the time required before ring signaling is regarded as ended. Do not set it too low, or it will cut off calls ringing in. There will be a little delay after you hang up and when the system thinks you hung up, that is normal. It is better to have it ring a few times after you hang up, then have it hang up while you are still trying to ring in.

@redphone - Thanks for the info. Definitely a few things to try. I am unfortunately using caller ID, so I guess that I will have to cope with some delay. I haven't set anything in the locale field yet, so this may improvr things a bit.

I will give your suggestions a try.

cheers

When I posted, caller ID wasn't enabled on the Analogue lines from BT, but the lines in the SOE were set to Loop Start CLID. I got BT to enable caller Id on the lines, and now the delay is down to about 2 rings. much more acceptable.

Do you realy need the CLI on the analoge lines? if not disable it

do youe analoge phones have caller display?
if not this can be disabled in the extn.

the problem is caused becaue CLI is sent betwen the 1st 2 ring busts so the worst case on an IPO is Alog trunk with CLI to alog ext with CLI as follows:

inbond call wait 2 rings for INC in case callneeds to be routed on CLI
send cli to phone (another 2 rings)
ring phone.

General recomendation , only enable CLI on Analog trunks & exts where it is actualy usefull

I had a smiliar problem changed from LoopstartCLID to just loopstart and works fine.
