Can you set up SIP Trunks through IP authentication rather than registration with the IPO? If so, is it then possible to set up the system so that if 00(international) is dialled one number shows, if they dial 0(UK) another number is shown and if they dial put with a 9 prefix calls show as withheld?

The reason I ask is we currently have 3 separate trunks displaying 3 separate numbers using registration but the SIP provider is forcing the number displayed. This was working fine but since we added inbound calls through SIP lots of problems have been occurring where calls are randomly cutting out and when they hang up the phone it does not cut the call off.

The calls used to come in through an ISDN30 but they moved site so we put inbound calls through SIP, since then we have experienced these issues. I thought at first their IT team must have changed the router and that this could be a firewall issue but they have made no changes so the only thing I can think of is that the inbound calls going through SIP is causing some NAT issues on the router or that we have 3 trunks registered and inbound. The SIP provider said using IP authentication could help this.

Any ideas or advice will be very much appreciated,

Not all SIP Providers support sending any number and I am not familiar with providers outside the Benelux, it is either ask the provider or trial and error.
But yes, authentication based on WAN IP address is possible but very unsafe as well, that is your risk, and yes you can send any number out via any trunk based on the number dialled or even time based, whatever. IP Office is very versatile and powerfull with that.

As you describe your problems I suggest to find a skilled partner in your region which is UK I think and hire him or her to support you.
It is not an easy task and to my opinion only a few can solve that and for the UK, amriddle or IPGuru are top of the bill here and hiring one of them or both (they would really love that I think) seems to be a good idea.

Or you ask Avaya support and pay double money and in the end it may never be solved completely ( I have seen them screw up things which could be solved by one of us but they replaced the whole system with a CM sytem ).

We do use a provider with IP authentication but that has nothing to do with which number you send i think.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

We use Voiceflex or Gamma SIP trunks in the UK. Both of these can be set to IP authenticated and with the correct setting turned on on the portal we can send any numbers we like (Our support team send out our support number, admin send out the main number and a few send out DDI numbers - the support number is an 08 number). In the US we use intelepeer SIP trunks these too can be set to display any outgoing number and are IP authenticated.

We currently have about 100 customers running SIP trunks in this fashion, many running trunks from multiple suppliers for extra resiliency.

As far as I know Gamma moved every one to IP authentication (with almost zero notice causing huge problems for many customers)

as intrigant has said this usualy require the IP office exposing to the internet to some degree so an SBC or othre means of securing the connection is ESSENTIAL a simple NAT router can be used with a STUN server but this has proven troublesome as Gamma do not provide a Stun server & public servers cannot always be relied upon.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

A reliable public STUN server is 146.101.248.221 (it is voiceflex's).

And yes when Gamma decided to cancel all the old username authenticated connections they didn't do it very well as we ended up with a few days notice only to deal with them all (thankfully at the time we were not using Gamma in anger so only had a few to deal with).
