Can anyone confirm for me that in an SCN that IP Office systems will shuffle off to each other?
In other words, given a system with three or more IPO's with ip trunks between them - one system (IPO 1)is the "hub" with voip lines to the other two systems.
When IPO 2 calls IPO 3, the VOIP traffic will pass directly between them without using VCM's in the IPO 1 system.
Even if there are not VOIP lines built between them in a mech topology.

Was that clear as mud?

Jay,

It will work if you enable direct media path but this will cause problems because the 'shuffeling' on IPO is bad implemented. The first seconds of the call will be lost due to the shuffeling.

? a hub?
With IP routing you should be able to route ip packets directly from one IP Office to another without using a hub construction.
Using TDM Qsig you will have a hub with IP you don't.
Direct Media Path does not work on IP trunks, only on IP Phones.
Lets say you have the following :
IPO A -> IPO B -> IPO C.
Calling from IPO A to IPO C will send the IP Packets through IPO B but on IPO B you will not use VCM channels if you set up the right IP Route in IPO B.

By "Hub" I was referring to the VOIP trunk configurations.

From IPO A to C should send the packets physically through the LAN at IPO B, not not actually "through" IPO B itself, or it's VCM's. (unless of course there is no LAN at B other than it's ports)

The packets will route from A to C's IP Interface directly.

If you don't do a hub configuration, then the alternative is to build VOIP trunks from each IPO to all the other IPO configurations - a mesh configuration. in the case of four or five IPO's that's a lot of trunks. Imagine 15.

I get what you mean with a hub.
A mesh configuration is not supported with SCN.
So your configuration is the best to use and you will not use VCM resources on the routing IP Office when VoIP packets are going through it.
