Hi All

I am just installing an IPO server edition and for some strange reason I cant dial more than 10 digits. After dialing 10 digits that call automatically gets placed.

The setup is 2x Servers and 1x IP Office 500v2 expansion system, which is terminating PRI lines (E1).

I have tried creating h323 trunks between primary server and 500v2 to no avail. I have created short codes on both systems to help enable this but still not working. For the primary server, the default system short code "? Dial . " is always picked. If removed, calls dont even go through.

All endpoints are currently Polycom SIP phones and I wonder if that could be the case. Kindly help.

Probably. What model of Polycom? The IP5000 and 6000 conference phones have their own dial plan inside the phone. There's gotta be something on the Polycom side that dictates when a dialed string is considered complete and the phone packages that into a SIP invite to send to the IPO.

If I had to guess, you'd have to make a config file with those parameters and name it after the MAC address of the phone and copy/paste to have a file for every MAC of every Polycom.

Thanks Kyle.
Wow. Thats just crazy, there are more than 400 phones.

I have tried to play with the so called digit map on the polycoms? not sure which settings to put in.
The polycoms are SIP 330 IP - Soundstation IP

Yup. That sucks and it's what you get with basic SIP. On the enterprise side of things, Session Manager builds profile info based on your PBXs dial plan to automagically give that to Avaya branded SIP phones.

Presumably you'd need to get good with a barcode scanner and some bulk renaming tool :) Maybe a Polycom forum would have better advice on how to most easily do that across a gaggle of phones.

Wow, 400 3rd party sip phones on the IP office? Digit map is probably where you need to be on the polycom, there are some other threads about the polycom 6000/7000 and configuring the digit map.

That digit map above works. Got it of a soundstation IP config doc. Now i can dial out..albeit for only one phone

One of the many reasons using 3rd party handsets is usually a bad idea, loose integration :)

Very true. These guys bought these handsets with one of those asterisk based pbxs and then couldnt get certain features to work properly. It was a huge investment so they shopped around for a solution to replace the backend. Avaya called me and here we are.

Depending on what features they're looking for, you might not have any more luck with the Polycoms.

For the price of those licences you could have sold them Avaya handsets at cost price for not much more than they paid anyway. They would have a fully working system and you would have an easy maintain on your hands, win win and sometimes that's worth not making money on the handsets :)

Im sure you can provision those phones via TFTP. It looks for a config file. (dont quote me but I'm sure i read in the polycom docs somewhere.

Set up your DHCP server with the TFTP option, and you might get lucky!

What couldn't they accomplish? It's useful ammo against those wannabes that sell Asterisk to people, not really knowing what they're doing, IT companies mainly :)
