Hi,

I developed a database a couple of years ago to track support calls for our technicians. It is very simple- just a form with 'start' & 'stop', a drop down field to select from a table of clients & it calculates total time. The only problem with it is the user has to remember to open the form! You'd think habits would form, but so many calls are getting missed. :(

We have recently started using IP Office & I wondered if anyone had any ideas about linking the two? We have it set so the manager pops up on an incoming call. If the database could do the same it would be a great memory aid!

Although the form itself is simple, I do have experience of linking Access to other apps through VBA, especially interacting with Outlook, so I'm not afraid to try extensive programming routines if you could point me in the right direction! I could probably force it through a third-party macro utility, but I find that a bit of a bodge.

Plus, we are only using the standard manager software. I know there is a Pro version: I'd happily recommend an upgrade if I knew it had functions that may aid me?

Any help is much appreciated!

Have you thought of using SMDR/DELTA server to logg all calls to a CSV file, provided the clients are in the directory it should be able to match CLI to client name,
You could also use forced account code on the phone to force the technicians to enter the correct code on the phone before calling a client, this would also show on the SMDR output (entrys in the directory will automaticaly be alocated the correct account code id dialed via SpeedDial)

Isn't MS Access TAPI compliant.

You may be able to us the TAPI drive to allow you to open the form.

The TAPI driver for IPO if on the user CD.

Thank you both for your responses & I apologise for not replying before. This project is now very much on the back burner! But when I get back to it, I will let you know how it goes.

With phone manager pro you can force screen pops of goldmine, act, outlook, and (significantly in your case) any 3rd party software. It will even pass details in the command line, so if your DB can accept command line parameters you should be able to get it to come up with the correct customers form right off the bat.

That sounds just right, Morrack. I'll look into that, thank you.
