Hi! Does anyone have any ideas as to why an analog port on an IP406 will not allow an incoming fax transmission? The port seems to work fine, they can send outgoing faxes but with an incoming fax, nothing happens. You can hear the fax tones but it will not make the "handshake". Any help is appreciated, thank you!!!

Matt

Check incoming call route. And see how the Incoming route is set! Check and see what your bearer capability is set to. If any thing other than "Any" Change to this and try then.

Thanks!! It's already set to any. Do you think the PRI might be causing the problems?

Matt

Perhaps the problem is with the fax machine. Do you have a loop start line somewhere to use?

Change the ring type in the user settings, use RingNormal.
That solved the problem for me.

The fax machine is OK, will check the Ringnormal setting. Also, we determined it wasnt the T1 because when we faxed internally from one fax to the other. Thanks for all the ideas guys!!!!! Keep 'em coming :)

Matt

Well if you can fax from one IPO extension to another successfully then the problem is probably with the T1. Is the T1 a PRI? If so you may be able to see the cause in the ISDN traces.

Sorry, I mistyped. The problem still exists when we try to fax from one internal fax to the other.

Well perhaps what intrigant suggested or perhaps you could change the display type in the extension to dtmfb.

I have never experienced this particular problem with fax machines but I believe that there was a problem in a version long ago that required moving the fax extension from a control unit port to a module port.

Naturally your control unit and module firmware is up to speed and at the correct level?

It sounds like you have a timing or synchronization problem. How many PRI/T-1's are in your line configuration? Check your Clock Quality source. What is it set to?

Hope this helps
