I've been installing 3300's for a few years and have really got to like them, but the reseller I work for has just started to sell IP Office, I installed my first one today and I can safely say what a terrible system!! I absolutely hate it so far... External call diverts are messy, the phones are ugly with tiny screens, the programming is far too complex for even the most basic features. I really hope we drop it after all the negative feedback and stick with Mitel.....

I work on both systems and they both have there +'s and -s

I would rather upgrade / reboot / perform a datsave / restore an IP office anyday compared to a 3300. Instead of taking hours and hours it takes minutes!

Yes sorry tdmneil but i would have to agree with James1982.
We also deal with both , avaya does not require much in technical training/management/to install and keep them going . Most of our customers look after them themselves once they are installed, and the upgrades are simple .

But also like your self we have thse techs that hate mitel and those that hate avaya.

Im sure that the avaya will become easier to manage once you get more familier with it , its just a different mindset .

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

I think that is always going to be the case. PC or Mac, Word or Wordperfect. They all can get the basic job done it comes down to how reliabily/easy it is to get the job done. It would be nice if we could install the best fit for each customer rather then worrying about cheapest price or the biases of some IT guy or management type.

P.S Death to Cisco!

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

External call diverts are messy

All you need to do is type the external nummber in the destination box of incoming call route....that's it, so that's a single entry in only one place, I think that's as if not easier than doing it on a Mitel :)

I think it's fairly evident which has the smaller screen, also more of the buttons on the Avaya handset are free to be programmed as it has fixed feature keys that the Mitel set doesn't (conference, headset etc). But both Mitel and Avaya do handsets that have bigger screens too.

We sell both Mitel and Avaya and both are fairly even when it comes down to real world use :)

You know I reckon Avaya would sell more if their phones were not so butt ugly.

The system has plenty of functionality , the handsets are easy to use , they just dont look nice.

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

They have never been "lookers" I'll give you that and the older style 5410's etc were even worse, I do like the aesthetics of Mitel handsets in comparison to the Avaya's, but when it comes to programming/installing the Avaya is easier (I think).

The IP Office isn't really in competition with the 3300, the 3300 is more towards enterprise level like Avaya's ACM/Definity system, the Mitel equivelant is the 5000HX (Small/medium enterprise). The fact it goes up against the 3300 and is compared to it reflects well on the system :)
