I have multiple sites with an IP office 500v2 9.1.7 with 2 DS30Bs and a VCM32. They also are licensed for 20 SIP trunks channels, I have made sure to change the call max to 20 as well but I am getting the message "waiting for line" from time to time. My question is when a call rings in to a hunt group and is notifying 13 digital extensions at a time is it using multiple VCM channels? Could this be the cause of my issue? If there are 13 users in a group when a call rings in with 10 people already on the phone would this be an issue? Am i even asking the right questions? You help is greatly appreciated.

Only ongoing conversations use VCM if the codecs between endpoints differ, in case of a IP Trunk then packet relay is used by IP Office (no VCM resources used) if the codecs match.
In this case any conversation between a endpoint and the SIP trunk will use a VCM channel.
I would be surprised if VCM resources is the root of the problem.

Hey,

You may find that when you're getting this waiting-for-line message it may be a 404/487/503 response coming back from your SIP provider. The IPO can be bit funny handling these and is normally a miss-dial or a wrong number.

Get a SysMon running with all the options on the SIP tab enabled and post up an example and I'll be able to confirm for you.
