Hello all,

I know there maybe a lot of things causing this, and I have tried to rule out as many possible issues I could think of.

I am running 2 IPO 500 V2 both running version 8.1(85) over a VPN connection. The VPN connection are made using 2 Cisco routers (RV082) with SPI turned off. The VPN connection has no problems staying up and running.

Now here is the problem. Almost every morning we come into the office the IPO are not handling calls between each other (no extension dialing, etc.) So every morning I reboot both IPOs and the system is perfect all day (perfect sound quality too).

I thought maybe the VPN connection was dropping because there was no traffic at night, so I have created a batch file that pings the IPO (and output the pings to a text file) on the other site of the VPN connection. I was hoping that this would keep the VPN alive and the IPOs would stay connected. I looked at the text file and I had a few dropped packets (2 or 3) over the night.

Can anyone suggest other test to try, or do you think that a few dropped packets are causing this?

Thanks again everyone!!

Mike

This won't help other than to tell you where to focus your attention, but I have seen the same on 2 occasions. Both times it was down to the Cisco routers, in both cases the IT man was adamant it wasn't and in both cases we proved it by creating the VPN with our own routers and the connection was flawless, went back to the Ciscos and the issue returned.
Don't know if they ever/how they fixed it as it was not one of our customers, we where just tasked with proving if it was the IPO or not :)

Thank you Amriddle,

I forgot to mention two important things:

site A is our "main" office and site B is our "remote" office. Site A have fiber connection (Verizon) and site B has both cable and DSL. Site A we are using the fiber and a Cisco RV084. Site B has a Cisco RV042.

We left site A alone and changed some stuff at site B to see if things helped.

We changed site B from cable (75X25) to DSL (15X5) and changed the router from the RV042 to a TP-Link. Same exact problem.

I can try installing another TP-Link at site A to get rid of all Cisco products.

What kind of routers were you using to show it was the Cisco routers that was causing the problems?

Thanks again,

Mike
