I have an IP office setup to forward calls to an external answering service when the hunt group is in night service. This works fine, but ties up two of the customers three analog trunks. I would like to setup the system to do a hookflash then dial the answering service phone number, thus only using one trunk. I have tried creating a short code with the Flash Hook feature and under the number field when creating the short code putting the number to the answering service, then adding the short code as the forward number under a phantom user when the hunt group is on night service, but had no success. Is this possible?

Assuming you have VM Pro...just use an assisted transfer action and set the destination as the short code that you created with flash hook. This is also assuming that you have the "centrex transfer" or "system transfer" or whatever your LEC is calling the feature configured on your incoming lines.
