Hey,

I have heard this term before but I am not sure it relates to my problem (just sounds like it does).

Well here it is .. I have a static IP address for my modem, but i want the same address to be hitting my network server.

can anybody point me in the right direction

any help would be appreciated
thanks.

I believe what you are looking for is port forwarding. If you modem has a built in firewall you will just need to forward the ports that you want to reach your network server. If it is just a modem you will want to set it to bridge mode and put the ip adress on your firewall and do the port forwarding on the firewall. I am ssuming that you don't want all external internet traffic to reach your network server for security reasons.
