Hi all

first of all i must say i am a sendmail newbie, I hesitated before doing this post because i though i could get my answer of google... But as it hasnt been solved here i go.

So i am setting up this SMTP server on a dedicated line which will be used by external users(about 10 users a bit everywhere in the world).
I though I would put the '@mydomain.com RELAY' in access so it will be easier as I do not know the IP of the clients. I also put the FEATURE(`relay_mail_from') in sendmail.mc, but it just doesnt work.

From my home connection I always get the error "IP lookup failed <MY IP>... relaying denied..." and the only way i can send email is by specifying my IP adress as RELAY in access or specifying my IP adress as part of mydomain.com in /etc/hosts. It just work perfectly that way (I can send or receive email in evolution :) ) but this isnt a good solution as none of the clients will have a static IP...

This is just a nitemare for me and I need this server working ASAP and I feel soooo lost, If anyone can help me troubleshoot this problem I would be very gratefull

cheers
Alexis

ooops i forgot to say i also have this in my config :
FEATURE(`accept_unresolvable_domains')dnl
but i doesnt prevent the error...

And btw my ISP (TMNET in malaysia) IP adresses never resolved to a domain name (eg when im on IRC i can see my IP instead of my isp domain name, or sometimes i get refused when i register to a forum...)

Ok I solved it :)
just needed to enable SMTP AUTH :)
newbie to sendmail yesterday, less today
