IP KEM shift function

Has anyone been able to get the shift function on the i2004 IP KEM to work? In the literature it says it can be shifted to allow for 48 additional buttons, not just the 24, but the shift key on the phone doesn't do anything.

The "shift" key only works on a Meridian 1 / CS 1000.

And only works if you have 1 KEM. 2 KEM's = no shift.
