Hi,

I am not sure where to post this so I am just going to try here first. I want to setup my own webserver at my home with DSL. Everywhere I read about this everybody is talking about how you get a Static Public IP and assign it to the DSL Modem/Router and then forward ports to the server. Is this the only way to do this or can I leave the router/modem alone and just assign the Static Public IP to my webserver?

Thanks in Advance,

Sterling

You can not leave the router alone. At the very least, you will have to forward port 80 to the webserver or put the webserver in the DMZ. You might want to do some reading here
