I am trying to decide whether to use XO Communications IP Flex product. What it is, is a IP T-1 that comes into a router then splits off 5 to 16 analog phone lines (they provide phone numbers or you could Port yours) to a 66 block via an Amphenol cable. You then x-connect to station cable. The rest of the bandwidth goes to internet usage. In these sites we are using Cortelco 2-line phones. If you are using this service in this way what type of phones are you using, and what do you think of it??

They also have an IP PRI that terminates into your switch. In this case it would be a BCM 450. In this way all bandwidth is dedicated to voice.

What makes me nervous is the lack of control of there PBX. You can make minimal changes on there website.

If anyone is using these solutions I would like to get your pros and cons on it.

Thanks, Barry

My only concern would be 'can you fax' and 'will modems work'. I had a customer with an IP connection similar to this, and I am unable to modem in via a DID connected modem to administer their PBX.

It could have been something coincidental, and not the IP service. I never found out.

Ill have to ask about that. As for remoting in i Telnet or if the network goes down i have a POTS line i can use.

Thanks.

Can someone tell me how a COT line works?

A COT line is a Central Office Trunk. When you go off hook, you hear dial tone. It is not unlike the land line at your house.
