Systems involved. OP81, OP61,@ Succession 3.0 with sig servers at all sites and BCM200s, 400s, at 3.6, going to 4.0 as soon as it is stable.

Anyone have a "Encrypt your IP telephony for dummies" guide?

On this topic please use small words and speak slooo and cleeaarlyy. I have no idea where to begin except for knowing that it will have to add overhead.

What are your links between sites? Private T-1, VPN?

If it's a private T-1, I'm not sure of a good way to encrypt the data in a method that won't break the VOIP, short of using VPN gateways (such as Nortel Contivity boxes) as the routers, so the data is encrypted over the WAN links. Otherwise, you're stuck with access lists on routers/switches, or separate VLANs that are only accessible by hosts you specify in the lists.

Quite a few ways to do it, but would need more info about your infrastructure first.

Private networking. Everything is on a private WAN most sites on ATM.

Currently none of the PBXs are networked so we are going into this all at once.

Take a look at the Nortel 2450 Secure Multimedia Controller - might be just what you are looking for.

If it's all private, why encrypt and add unnecessary overhead and complexity?

I work for a government, complexity? overhead?, please do not ask for logic.

biv343,
I will check out the 2450.
Thanks to all.
