So I have a customer that ordered 4 of these phones and an IPBS, but we have never installed these. Does anyone have a job sheet on these? The Installation and Maint guide is quite lengthy and I suspect that the majority of the items are not needed to get it up and running, similar to the SIP conference phones.

Thanks

Follow the install guide by the letter, go for the provision install.
It looks harder as it actually is but the first install is always difficult.

Intrigrant, is that codec issue fixed after a reboot?
That keeps me from using it.

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yes it is and provisioning is really good, easy to maintain.

I know but it was a bit flaky in the beginning and i never used it again :)
I guess i have to start using it again.

Well, it still alters the Frame rate to 60 ms when rebooting.
Easy to fix when you know about it, but a pain in the ass if you don't...

Kind regards

Gunnar

Since 8.1 I did a lot installs. All provisioned and no problem at all.

Must be me then:)

Kind regards

Hi guys,

Yes it still alter the codec's frame (even in last 9.0)

I've raised a case for this bug and I was answered that this is a "normal" behavior and that codec's frame is negotiated at each call and as the IP Office use 20ms frame calls should never use the 60ms parameter ...

I'm a bit confused because for me, when we have voice quality issue on DECT R4, changing this value do 20ms seems to resolve the issue ....

Does someones have more information about this ?

Best regards,
Nicolas

Nicolas, Avaya is wrong in this case so if you have a case open then record the conversation and make a wireshark trace and proove them that they are wrong.
This is the reason why i do not install the provision mode anymore.

....I don't have a problem with it and if you never use it how can you say it is a problem?

It is a problem because it does not work well after a reboot.
That is why i don't use it.

How do you know if you never use it? For me it survives any reboot, config changes, adding basestations, handsets whatever and even software upgrades from 8.1 to 9.0 gave no problem.

Sounds like the problem might relate to how the rest of the setup is done, that a tiny little difference makes a huge impact on the dect.

I have two system that do this on every reboot, 7.0 & 8.1. Software matching on everything, one with AIWS, both have PRI, and 5 IPBS each.

I just gave up, made a note on the client card and archived it.

Kind regards

Gunnar

@Gunnaro, I would do the same as you, but as said strange enough we don't have a problem or our customers don't complain or use the phones, they are Belgians so anything is possible.....
@tlpeter, when istalling then follow the manual, the only thing I always adjust is the NTP server on all base stations to the IP Office IP Address but I don't know if that make any difference. Keep it simple and be patient, it can take upto five to ten minutes after completing the install before you can register the phones.
First all basestations must be synced over the air, so complete the install, take a walk, get a coffee, do something usefull like a chat with the receptionist and then try to register the phone(s).

I have installed a couple dozen IPdect systems but only one with provisioning.
I know it can take some time for the master to sync with itself.
It is just that the provision has some flaky habits once in a while.
