We have a switchboard operator and when she goes to lunch/break we have an employee come by and cover. We would like her to have the console forward to a menu node voicemail during these times. Since she uses the IP Console w/ IP Console software I figured easiest way was for her to utilize Night2. I would make sure all of our phones Night2 call reroute matches the Day except for the switchboard phone. She can then select Night2 from the drop down when she leaves the desk during business hours and change back to Day when she comes back.

I am looking for feedback / best practices before doing this though.

thanks!

Are you sure you want to use a Menu Node?

Menu nodes do not allow Dial by Name

Menu Nodes do not allow Dial by Extension

Menu Nodes only allow single digit access to specific destinations

Additionally, more than likely you have more than 1 LDN key. Either each LND requires its own MB or you need to get fancy with the system to redirect calls to a specific mailbox. There can be issues when redirecting calls when the distination is not the last leg of the process.

I am not familiar w/ LDN key if you can elaborate.

I think we will be good simply with 1-9 for our patients to use during the time period. I just didnt want to break something assuming we could use Night2 for this purpose. If you have other suggestions, that would be good unless you think my idea is best.

thanks again for your quick response !

The console has up to 7 programming inbound numbers (LDNs). Typcally a console will have 1 for Dial zero calls (internal) and 1 or more for external calls.

Each LDN will require its own menu node. If you try forcing calls using nametag groups as I sure some will suggest then calls will loop back to the menu node instead of proceeding to the mailbox chosen if the destination does not answer.

Suffice it to say, this can be very complicated and requires in depth knowledge of your system and needs.

Unfortunately, I am called away. Hopefully someone else can pick this up for you.

thanks for the feedback.. Im going to try Night1 after work today and see how it works out

I haven't made any progress on this one yet and was wondering if you might have some magic to share. The issue is that I can't get menu node voicemail to pickup using our console when in Night2 mode unless I use a nametag hunt group. I need to be able to use something other then a nametag huntgroup since the call will not get dropped off at the destination directory numbers voicemail but rather comes back to the menu.

3300 MXe - MCD 4.2 SP2 PR1 - Embedded Voicemail

Our main number is 920-1000 and our IP Console is 1301.

1000 is simply an appearance on a fictitious KPM and has call routing setup:
Day - Always Alternative Number 20 (Reroute to 1301)
Night1 - Always Alternative Number 12 (Reroute to voicemail)
Night2 - Always Alternative Number 25 (Reroute to *7226 which is a NameTag Hunt Group for menu node voicemail box 7226)

If Night2 is not routed to NameTag Hunt Group *7226 the voicemail box of Night1 is played when the system is in Night2.

I looked at the article and i pointed Night2 to the ACD Path I created which was using 7226 as the phantom directory number in step 5 as the interflow but had the same behavior of Night1 voicemail being played.

Maybe making 1000 a voice hunt group will have a different behavior?

Anything to test/try would be great.

thanks

Step 4 - Make sure to enable “Queue Callers To Group When No Local Agents Are Logged In”

This is very important.

thanks for the quick reply, here are the steps i took:

Step 1 - DID is 1000 (already existed, added to a phantom KPM)
Step 2 - Path Directory Number is 5500
Step 3 - Night2 mode is rerouted to 25 which was setup to point to 5500
Step 4 - Created Fake Group 901, validated that "Queue Callers To Group When No Local Agents Are Logged In" is set to Yes.
Step 5 - One phantom appearance is already created which is 7226 that was also added to same phantom KPM as 1000 .
Step 6 - Path Directory 5500 - Interflow Enabled , Time Out is 1 seconds, Interflow Point Directory Number is 7226
Step 7 - 7226 is Menu node and call rerouting for Day,Night1,Night2 is set to voicemail
Step 8 - If i dial 5500 the Night2 message plays fine. If I point 1000 Night2 to 25 which i change to 5500 , the Night1 voicemail plays and not Night2

Try a longer timeout period

Also try calling 5500 directly to test and make sure you end up in mailbox 7226.

I left out what appears to be an important detail i didnt think mattered so I apologize.

We have two sites , each with a PRI and a MXe 3300 with same software load. All of our voicemail boxes for our company are on one 3300. If I dial 920-1000 the call comes in Site A and ip trunked/routed to Site B where the voicemail box resides and this is where Night2 isnt working properly as described above (the Night1 voicemail still plays) If I dial 935-1000 which is the DID block for the PRI of Site B (i.e. no ip trunking/routing takes place) the Night2 voicemail works fine.

So now i need to figure out how can someone dial 920-1000 which is our advertised to public number and leverages ip trunking/routing but still have Night2 work properly.

thanks

Setup the special programming on the system that has the voicemail. I'll admit I've never seen this scenario so it did not occur to me to ask.

Site B has MXe with our embedded voicemails and the ACD programming. If i dial 935-1000 which dials directly into the PRI connected to Site B, the greeting works.

If I dial 920-1000 which is the PRI connected to Site A MXe which uses ARS Routes to send call via IP Trunk to Site B the greeting for 1000 is played and the call isnt routed to Night2 voicemail menu.

Something is being stripped or changed when the call routes from one MXe to the other where our voicemail is located, i just don't know Mitel well enough to figure it out.

Enable CCS Trace Enable Continuous on the Site B system and test both calls.

Post the trace.
