IP Config for BayStack 350-24t

We have been trying to configure our BayStack 350-24T switch with the upfront com port. We have finally got HyperTerminal to communicate with it to where the logo comes up. But when it says "Enter Ctrl-Y to continue" no matter what we do I can't get anything to happen. I don't think it is accepting input from the keyboard. How do I fix this and is it a problem with HyperTerminal?
