I was just presented with a rather immediate need for something that I'll need to go to my most valuable resource (Tek-Tips) for knowledge.

We're running CM3.0 and are powering a remote warehouse site w/IP SoftPhone over an MPLS circuit. TPTB have asked me to come up with a conference phone solution in less than a week. My questions, in no particular order, are below:

1) My switch tells me this:
Maximum Concurrently Registered IP Stations: 565 3
Do I have permissions to use an IP hard phone, or do I need to check another set of permissions as well?
2) Do they make an IP conference phone that does not require a SIP server, that can be programmed with IP settings?
3) Am I looking at a long, drug-out process making this thing work?
4) What else do I have to have administered in order to use IP conference phone if IP SoftPhone is already working?
5) Any recommendations for a specific make/model of IP conference phone?

I appreciate any information. Since this is an immediate-need situation (relatively, when you look at how long other things take) I need the down-and-dirty in order to proceed.

Thanks to all, in advance, for all efforts.

If you don’t want to use SIP, your only choice I guess is the AVAYA 4690IP phone, it’s actually a Polycom conference phone but converted to IP and has an AVAYA part number and logo.

We run a few of those and they are not easy to set up but if you can put them on a static IP address you should be fine.

As for the RTU’s, if you have free ports and free IP registrations, you should be good to go

Your switch must be equipped with both a MedPro and C-LAN board to implement IP Telephony. If you are using SoftPhone in Telecommuter mode you may not have the MedPro.

Thanks for the information, folks! After looking into the expense of a 4610 TPTB have decided to pursue a Polycom SoundPoint PC and use an existing IP SoftPhone for the call. We are using Road Warrior for those phones supported at the satellite warehouse, so using the SoundPoint instead of a headset is a very viable option.
