Greetings All,

I have used Mitel pbxs since 1989 and am fairly knowledgable of their use. 2 SX2000s and 4 SX2000 microlights all
networked together. I also have a crude conference bridge hung off 12 opx lines. It works, but is user unfriendly.

I recently added a 3300 mxe to account for some campus expansion and thought I would upgrade the bridge, but I'm not at all comfortable with voip yet. Hence the questions.

I can go with the VAR and go Mitel Quick Conference; I'm waiting for a price, which I guess is pricey per port. Any experience with it?

Epygi makes a conference bridge call Quadro CS and looks very reasonable, 25 ports for $3,600 plus licenses. It uses SIP for connections but here's where I start to loose it. Will the 3300 connect to it? How? What licenses do I need. User, Device, SIP?

I just stumbled upon this group, something I wish I had known about all these years, as I have always felt I was the only one with a Mitel switch. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I've put a few Quick conf in. Works fine, very simple to install and use.

Also, in my opionion, not at all expensive.

Why the reservations on VOIP?

MitelMatt,

Thank you for your reply. I'm waiting for the cost of the Quick from my VAR, but I have a firm grip on my desk, as his prices usually knock my socks off (normally I get over it thought).

My reservations are that it's new to me so my knowledge is limited, the IT department is somewhat slow to respond because of other demands and my time to learn new stuff is limited (even though I want to learn about it). Oh, and with over 1000 extension, 7 switches, voicemail, etc,; I'm the only one that does the phone systems and it's not my primary duty. One of these years, the administration is going to allow a telephone tech hire. But that's my problem.

In the meantime I do what to learn as much as possible.

I assume you'll have to go SIP trunks as apposed to SIP user.

With the Mitel Quick Conference it's SIP trunks licenses that are required.

Thank you for your reply. Acutually, you have touched on my problem in that I'm not sure exactly what the bridge requires. I cannot find anyone who has experience with connecting one of these on an 3300. I don't want to spend money or time, on the wrong liceses. I have contacted Epygi and I've gotten vague answers like "we will help you to hook it up". But I need to know the licence requirements.

When you buy Quick conference it comes bundled with the licences required on the 3300

Believe me, it's simple to install. Only takes an hour or so
