In trying to configure the IP chains I can't browse the internet. I can get connected to my adsl modem just fine but now browsing is the only thing I can't and I can't ping anything outside of my home lan.The only thing I can think of that I possibly have messed up was the ipchains and the firewall, I really didn't even want a firewall right now. Is there a work around for this so I can at least finnsh my configuration ?

Thanks

Hi,

If it were redhat/mandrake you could stop the ipchains service and restart the network :

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/ipchains stop
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart

Other than that you can always 'flush' (clear) the active rule chains :

# /sbin/ipchains -F

See what active rules are with :

# /sbin/ipchains -L

(all the above are as root)

Hope this helps
