I have a site (CM5.0) with a series of users that generally work from home with IP Agent R7. They have recently started reporting trouble with their desk phones when they come into the office. It appears that IP Agent is retaining the extension even after they log off at home. Changing the port in the station form from S0xxxx to "X" and using TTI to register phone seems to correct the problem, but I would like to keep it from occurring. Does anyone have an idea about what is causing this?

Thanks!

How does the desk phone status when this issue is occurring?

Can you fix it by doing a busy/release on the desk phone?

I haven't performed a station status while a phone was out of service. I expect to have the trouble again soon so I will definitely do it then.

Busy and release doesn't correct the trouble.

you could also test it to see if it generates some kind of error code, and/or trace the ip station at the time of the logout to see if it's separating correctly.

i had a similar issue a few years ago, but can't remember exactly what the resolution was.

Hi... We just upgraded our PBX to CM 5.1. We are experiencing the exact same issue. The agents are using IP Agent V6. When then logout of IP agent the switch is not moving their port back to the hard phone in the office. Its intermittent...

I tried to busy/release but that did not help. So what I do is look in the history and see where it moved off of the port in the office to sxxxxx port. Then I just changed the station to the port from the history.

If anyone has an ideas its greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

NJGuy,

It is good to know that this isn't unique. I have had a few more instances of the issue, but someone always gets the phone back in-service before I have a chance to experiment with it. I will update this post the next time there is something to report.

Same issue here... though with IP softphone 6.0 - CM5.1.1 I've complained about it to Avaya. What happens in my situation is when the softphone is not closed properly the PBX loses the hardport. If the application is closed properly (file, logoff)the hardware is correctly placed. It is a real pain and I wish they would fix it.

Scenario.. VPN'd in network, using softphone, I get kicked off of VPN..for one reason or another. I get back to work I have to TTI my phone back in. What's worse is if the user is on a remote gateway.

I hound Avaya about it every few weeks... Somebody join me..
