Most of my users have IP agent on their pc's at their desks and use this every day- i recently have many work from home folks using IP agent. Today i get a "max license" message when a work from home user tries to log in and see that i only have 28 licence- are the users in the main office not using a license? Can someone help me understand this? thanks

You can have IP agent on as many users pc's as you want, but you can only have 28 logged in at the same time regardless if there internal or external users. Once the 29th user logs in you will get the error msg.

There was a "bug" in one of the versions of CM that allowed a virtually unlimited number people to login. Did you do a CM patch or upgrade recently? If so, that was the problem...

I discovered this, when I had a similar situation, but I knew I was going over and it let me...

Go do a little research on the topic of "shared control" which allows you to control onsite phones up to the number of simultaneous logged in agents.

Maybe someone else here can state it in more clear language.

Do 'display capacity'. on the next-to-last page it will show you how many licenses you have and how many are being used at that time.

I havent done an upgrade and I have IP Agent on at least 300 machines. I am sure more than 28 folks have been using it at a time- disp cap shows 28, i am perplexed? ?

I'll bet you're using most of your local instances in "shared control" mode and have maxed out on the remote users/users not controlling a local Avaya phone via the client.

Hardware platform? Definity / CM software version?

CM 4 is not a software version.

These are software versions:

R014x.00.0.730.5 CM 4.0.0
R014x.00.1.731.2 CM 4.0.1
R014x.00.2.731.7 CM 4.0.2
R014x.00.3.737.4 CM 4.0.3
R014x.00.4.739.0 CM 4.0.4
R014x.00.5.742.0 CM 4.0.5

What are the currently activated SP(s) (update, patch)

This is most likely a bug which should be fixed with the proper Service Pack

I think this may be in the set up, I think the possibility exists that you dont burn a license if you chose (use telephone to control...) i think that is why I never saw the error until now that I have so many telecommuters
