IP addressing for a CLAN card

I have a 799DP CLAN card and a 2302 Media Interface. I need to find a source for initializing hardware and software for a 4600 series IP phone. I cannot find any reference for the type of IP service that is programmable. Can I use Dynamic IP or am I only allowed to use Static IP?
Also, I was told that there are two generations. I have 4612's but was told to change to 462X. Is this a true statement?
