Hi all,
I'm having a little problem with a few printers. My setup is a 1 port Linksys DSL Router connected to a 16 port switch. There are 3 printers and 8 pcs on the network. I have DHCP enabled on the router. Every now and then two of the printers switch IP addresses. This is really causing a headache because one of the printers is a color laser and it prints gibberish when the IP's switch. Any ideas on why this could be happening? Thanks.

If the printer loses connection for any reason, including a lease renewal, it will go to the DHCP server and request a new address. At that point it becomes unknown as to the address it will receive.

Give the printers static ip addresses. They should use addresses in the same subnet as everyone else on the LAN, but outside of the DHCP scope of the linksys, usually 192.168.1.100 -- 192.168.1.149.

Try, for example:

Printer #1: 192.168.1.10
Printer #2: 192.168.1.11
