hi all
i want to know that in case where IPAT is enabled
with MAC address takeover and the Network card
failed due to hadware problem whether we have
to redefine the interface and also have to
sync the topology????or jus replacement of card
is enough??
Any Guideline for this purpose is highly appreciable.

i think, i tried this once but couldn't remember exactly what i did.

the last thing i know, if i'm right was just to re-configure the interface card and boom! it works. i'm back in business.

yours maybe different (if you're saying you have problem with with the H/W). but you cant try. 'hope it works.

absi,

You should make a topology change and sync.

Why?

Well when you change an adapter, I assume that it is 10/100 MBit card, then the MAC address will of course change. In terms of the HACMP MAC address if you followed IBM's guidelines then the last two digits should have been substituted with a 10 on the first node, 20 on the second e.t.c. so in essence you need to change the MAC address on the service adapter to reflect the above, i.e. change the last two digits to 10.

That said I do not think that you will have a problem because the dummy address CAN be anything but personally I prefer to follow a standard and at least it represents the actual card making identification easy.

Cheers
