I need to change the IP address on a JetDirect box, but I have no idea what the current IP address is. I have the Jet admin software and have changed IPs in the past, but what is the easiest way to find the current IP of this jetdirect box? I keep running different setups of the discovery to look for any "unknown/disconnected" devices that show up, but I can't find the box that I need to change. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Not sure how your network is setup but here we just ping the printer name and it returns the IP address. Or you should be able to press the button on the top of the jet direct which should produce a configuration page with the IP address on it.

The jetdirect was sitting in on the shelf so it hasn't been used in years....would it be easiest to hook the jetdirect box up to a printer and try to print out a config. page rather than trying to find the ip address through jetadmin? Thanks

here's a PDF that may help you out:

Connecting directly to a printer would be easier to see the existing configuration, but you can also clear the device and reset to factory defaults by unplugging it, then holding the test button down while you plug it back in. Keep the test button held down for 5-10 seconds.

I take it you do not have DHCP setup on your network? If you do, that would be esiest way to configure these. Setting the reservation on the DCHP server as opposed to setting a static address makes it much easier to manage. That MAC should be located somewhere on the device.

Hope this helps

Good Luck!
