I am running IIS 5 on one server with multiple sites and I am having a problem with one IP address which keeps becoming unavailable. It works fine for a while and then you can't ping it.

The only way I have found to fix it so far is to go in TCP/IP - advanced - remove it from the list of additional IPs and the re-add it. Then it's fine again. A couple of hours later I have to do it again. There are seven other IP addresses we use but these aren't afffected, it's always this same one.

I'm doing this two, maybe three times a day at the moment and it only started happening recently. There is nothing logged in the event viewer. Anybody experienced this, or have any idea what the problem could be?

Many thanks for any help.

It sounds like a conflict of IPs, but if it's on the same machine, i wouldn't think it would be that.

You use IPs for each of your websites? I had done that is the past, but it was to much of a pain. Any reason for that?? Host headers is easier to use, and it would fix your missing IP problem.

I picked these articles because they have nice screen shots that helped me in the past and they should get you up and working quickly:

No real reason for using IPs Candyman, it's just the way it's always been. I'll look into changing to host headers. Many thanks for the links, i'll have a look through them now.
