Hello,
I am testing some dhcp configurations and I want to set an ethernet interface on a 3640 to get it's IP address via DHCP. However the command is not available:

R4(config)#int f2/0
R4(config-if)#ip address ?
A.B.C.D IP address

R4(config-if)#ip address dhcp
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

R4(config-if)#

Any ideas?

I am running 12.1(11) and this command was introduced in 12.1.

Thanks,
B

well I have the command on another router, 3725, with 12.3 code...so I guess I'm all set. It was probably the IOS version....

I imagine you have IP-BASE code (like c3640-i-mz-12.1(11).bin)
or something like that? You need IP Plus code for ip add dhcp to work (which would have is-mz).

thats the exact image I was using, I am now using c3725-ipbase-mz.123-9b.bin which has it...go figure, maybe they added it in newer releases...thanks though
