IP Address conflicts

Hi PPL

I have 2 w2k servers. Both running DHCP services.
Each server has a range which is split, e.g.

server 1 will be issuing addresses 172.xxx.10.1 - 125
server 2 will be issuing addresses 172.xxx.10.126 - 254

This IP config is replicated within the network VLANS.
e.g

server 1 ----> 172.xxx.11.1 - 125 - VLAN 1
server 2 ----> 172.xxx.11.126 - 254 - VLAN 1
server 1 ----> 172.xxx.12.1 - 125 - VLAN 2
server 2 ----> 172.xxx.12.126 - 254 - VLAN 2

and so on...

Now i am experiencing ip address conflicts around the network, the ip address lease is set for 2 days yet i still get conflicts within this period.

any ideas please ?

Well your 2 DHCP ranges cover a whole subnet from 1-254. So where are the reservations for fixed IPs such as servers, printers, switches? Check those. If they are also in that range then that's why you have conflicts. What is your subnet mask?

YFronts, 172.x.x.x is class B. SO there are stil a lot of addresses available. Of course, if is not using a special mask.
But, i have to recognize that I cannot understand either what MrSinister is saying.
What does it mean this?
server 1 ----> 172.xxx.11.1 - 125 - VLAN 1
server 2 ----> 172.xxx.11.126 - 254 - VLAN 1
server 1 ----> 172.xxx.12.1 - 125 - VLAN 2
server 2 ----> 172.xxx.12.126 - 254 - VLAN 2

Considering that the scopes are 172.x.10.1- 125. Then what is 172.x.11.1-125 ??
How are yoru DHCP servers distributed? Are they separated by a router (since you have VLANs, there should be a router, and the router then has to be configured with DHCP relay).
