Hi all,

I just finished putting in a new hard drive on my computer, and reloaded WIN XP Home edition. I'm using DSL and have a Linksys 2.4 GHz Broadband Router. All of which are working fine. I also have 2 other pc's running off the wireless, and they are connected to the internet and working ok too.
Since I got it all up and working, I am getting a Windows, System Error that says..."There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." I get this error during boot up, and just whenever it decides to show me the error.
does anyone have any ideas where I might check for this error, and how I can resolve this?

Thanks,

Jediwarrior

This sometimes happens on my home network when I am reconfiguring PCs. I would first turn off the PCs and router. Restart the router and let it boot, and then the PCs. This should force the PCs to obtain new IPs if the router has DHCP enabled.

If the problem comes back open a command window on your PC, type ipconfig/all and note the IP address. Do the same for your other two PCs. That will tell you which PC is conflicting. If one of your own PCs, check if one is set up with a static IP address that overlaps your router's DHCP server IP range.

If none of your PCs are conflicting with each other, it usually means a neighbor's computer is connecting to your wireless router. In that case, check your wireless security settings.
